Sallie Alcorn was elected as an at-large member of Houston City Council in December 2019. Prior to running for office, Sallie was a longtime City Hall staffer. She spent the last 10 years serving three council members and the city’s flood recovery officer. She also worked previously in the city’s housing department. Sallie has strong experience in the trenches working on a broad range of issues including city finances, infrastructure, transportation, housing, and economic development. Sallie has been an active community volunteer through the years for many worthy organizations, and she currently serves on the advisory boards of San José Clinic and the Houston Maritime Center. She has a bachelor’s degree in finance from UT-Austin and a master’s in public administration from U of H. Sallie has been married to her husband George for 33 years and is a mom of four terrific kids.
