Born and raised in Houston, Council Member Kamin was part of the first graduating class of The Emery/Weiner School, going on to Tulane University and American University’s Washington College of Law where she focused on government administration and civil rights. Prior to being elected to Houston City Council in 2019, Council Member Kamin advocated for our community at every level of government.

Representing over 230,000 thousand residents in Houston's District C, CM Kamin chairs Houston City Council's Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee. As the first female to be pregnant and have a child while serving on Council, CM Kamin continues to be a stalwart advocate for women's rights throughout the city. From working to launch a domestic violence awareness campaign related to the pandemic, to most recently working to bring forward the Houston Women's Commission- the first board of it's kind at the city to focus on gender equality and equity.
